21 Section 333 Exemptions Approved

The FAA made a lot of progress on exemptions during the last few days with 21 section 333 exemptions approved. Here are the section 333 exemptions approved by the FAA and a summary of planned use for each.

San Diego Gas & Electric Company

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to conduct aerial inspections of its electric and gas facilities including emergency response damage assessments”

Southern Company Services, Inc.

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to conduct research on the applicability of UAS when assessing damage to power lines due to storm events and performing routine power line inspection”

Utility Aerial Services, Inc.

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to conduct utility-power generation inspections and patrols….

Operations authorized by this grant of exemption are limited to the Aerialtronics Zenith ATX8 when weighing less than 55 pounds including payload. Proposed 14 CFR part 21, and any associated noise certification and testing requirements of part 36, is not necessary.”

Phoenix Air UNMANNED, LLC

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to conduct aerial inspection, patrolling, filmmaking, and precision agriculture”

Aerius Flight, LLC

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to conduct commercial aerial survey and photography operations”

Aeryon Labs, Inc.

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to perform market research, aerial surveys, mapping, and inspections”

MicroCopter Professional Services, Inc.

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to conduct aerial filming and inspections”

Montico, Inc.

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to conduct tower inspections and mapping operations to an existing tower structure”

Vision Services Group, LLC

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to collect high quality, actionable data for use by agronomists, crop consultants, and forestry professionals”

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to conduct commercial operations to perform aerial acquisition and research in support of Government entities, agriculture industry, utility companies, local infrastructure, scientific studies, wildlife monitoring, mining, surveying, and forestry.”

The exemption notes:

“The exemption would allow the petitioner to operate the Aibot X6 V2 unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to conduct telecommunications and utility structure inspection, construction, and maintenance services.”

The exemption notes:
